The catch

Your mattress can't go in the trash (state ban) — you pay UTEC $40 per piece to recycle it. There's a hardship waiver if you can't.

The 2022 rule that changed everything

Since November 2022, Massachusetts banned mattresses, box springs and textiles from regular trash — on top of the older bans on tires, large appliances, CRT TVs and construction debris.
